This ongoing series of experimental gestures is prompted by an interest in locating the parallels between human vulnerability and material vulnerabilities unique to glass.

As a formal term for surrendering ownership, Cessions is an ongoing project that directs a healthy irreverence towards the tenets of skill acquisition, technical excellence, and “mastery” within contemporary craft practice, examining those things through chance-based engagements with time and temperature ranges.  Strict, symmetrical vessel bodies made by me are then permitted a moment to contort and posture as extravagantly as they wish.
